Scientific American reports that the 11-pound system, which is built around a pair of flexible shorts and a motor worn on the lower back, could benefit anyone who has to cover large distances by foot, including recreational hikers, military personnel, and rescue workers. According to the researchers, who have published their findings in the journal Science, this system differs from previous exosuits because it’s able to make it easier to both walk and run. The challenge, as shown by a video accompanying the research, is that your legs work very differently depending on whether you’re walking or running. When walking, the team says your...

Barr also mentioned the 2015 hack of the Office of Personnel Management, another major breach that included sensitive information from about 21.5 million Americans who had done work for the federal government. In doing so, Barr publicly confirmed that China has been collecting troves of personal data on U.S. citizens for years. Beginning around 2014, a host of American organizations that store personal identifying information were hacked, with either the government or major...

In accordance with National Public Radio, the inhabitants learned with limestone deposits of an island. The Islanders brought back large discs of stone that they finally become a kind of currency not for each day purchases, but for important outlays. That might sound simple, but it's not really that simple. These stones could weigh up to a car, so while they changed hands they have been seldom really moved. The society recognized this stone belongs to individual B. There's a narrative wherein a giant stone brought back to Yap was lost while the boat it was on sank. The Islanders dealt with this riddle by having an oral trade history, so everyone knew which the rock wasn't lost. Disagreements rarely arose due to the distributed nature of that information. This is akin to probably the most...
